Delhi government has once again rejected Ola’s license application to run its taxi service in Delhi.
Earlier in June, the transport department was directed by the Delhi High Court to reconsider the license application of Ola. Thereafter, on its direction the transport department had given a last chance to hear the views of Ola on the existing ban.
According to the government, under the Modified Radio Taxi Scheme 2015, to run taxis in Delhi there are several rules to be followed like installation of digital fare meters, operation through government-approved fare structure, GPS and PSV badge.
One of the officials told NDTV that the government heard the views of Ola during a hearing, but is not satisfied. The app-based taxi booking firm claims to bring all its cabs on CNG, but it is not the only rule to follow.”
Transport department has given an opportunity to Ola to apply afresh to get its license back. However, the company will have to apply under newly-introduced ‘City Taxi Scheme’ 2015 and submit the certified copy of undertaking in the High Court along with their application.
In this matter, rivals like Uber and Bookmycab were relieved, as their service ban was uplifted by the Delhi High Court and granted a licence to operate in Delhi.
